Overview

The European School of Internet Professions (EEMI), founded in 2011 by key figures in the digital industry (Jacques-Antoine Granjon, Xavier Niel, and Marc Simoncini), aimed to redesign its website to better reflect its new value proposition and optimize the user experience. The main goal was to merge the two existing websites (eemi.com and admissions.eemi.com) into a single, cohesive, and high-performing platform

The challenges included:

  • Optimizing SEO and accessibility
  • Enhancing the visibility and reputation of the school
  • Highlighting the courses and employability of students
  • Providing a smooth and engaging navigation experience for different audiences (high school students, college students, parents, companies, professionals in career transition)

Problem

How could we redesign the digital ecosystem of EEMI to highlight its programs, reassure parents, simplify navigation for students, and encourage the conversion of visitors into applicants?

Design process

The UX/UI approach followed a collaborative, user-centered process:

  • Redesigning the site structure and restructuring the data to highlight programs and career opportunities.
  • Co-design workshops involving stakeholders to define user journeys and the visual identity.
  • Optimizing storytelling on the homepage and key sections to structure content and improve readability.
  • Creating a unique and engaging graphic charter, blending modernity and simplicity.
  • Testing and iterations to ensure smooth and intuitive navigation.

The UX decisions focused on effective information hierarchy and a simplified user journey to maximize conversions.

Solution

The digital solution is based on a single, ergonomic, and high-performing website, incorporating:

  • An eco-friendly approach and a more accessible design, optimizing site performance while adhering to a set of best RGAA practices.
  • A focus on employability by highlighting career profiles with cross-selling to program pages.
  • A warm and immersive design with authentic and engaging visuals.
  • A clear and dynamic structure for programs and careers to better guide students.
  • A simplified user journey with optimized navigation on both mobile and desktop.
  • A “content first” site, designed with content tailored to the different target audiences.
  • Enhanced promotion of events, news, and partners to strengthen the EEMI ecosystem.

Insights

  • The importance of user-centered design: Involving stakeholders from the early stages helped align the site with the actual needs of users.
  • Simplify to convert better: Streamlining the site structure and storytelling significantly improved readability and visitor engagement.
  • A high-performing and scalable site: With a modular design and an optimized CMS, the site can easily adapt to the future needs of EEMI.
  • Accessibility and eco-responsibility as strategic drivers: A more inclusive and environmentally friendly site not only enhances the user experience but also improves SEO performance.
